The 2005 WEM Foundation Outstanding Educator Award honorees are: 

 

 

Teacher Achievement Award:

Sarah Van Ert of New Brighton, a mathematics teacher at the Technology and Learning Campus in the Robbinsdale School District. (pictured left)

Deborah Boros of Ramsey, an elementary teacher at Mississippi Elementary School in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. (pictured right)

 

Academic Coach of the Year Award:

Barry Bayerl of St. Cloud, a coach of several academic enrichment programs and a math, physical education and health teacher at Saints Peter, Paul and Michael School in St. Cloud.(pictured left)

Vicky Harris of Silver Lake, a Knowledge Bowl coach and an Earth science and life science teacher in the Glencoe-Silver Lake School District. (pictured right)

 

Ethics in Education Award:

Lois Demers of Minneapolis, a modified curriculum specialist in the Hopkins School District. (pictured left)

Robert Shaner of Grand Rapids, a chemistry and physics teacher in the Grand Rapids School District. (pictured right)

In addition to the six statewide honorees, 18 educators were named as regional honorees for 2005:

The Teacher Achievement Awards recognize teachers who support, inspire and assist students to achieve despite barriers to learning, the Academic Coach of the Year Award recognizes coaches of student teams who participate and compete in academic challenge or enrichment programs endorsed by the Minnesota’s Academic League Council, and the Ethics in Education Award recognizes educators who exemplify ethical behavior for the teaching profession and promote ethical practices and development for their students through classroom activities or curriculum.
