Foundation Outstanding Educator Awards
The WEM Outstanding Educator Awards Program was created in 1998 by the WEM Foundation in support of teachers and their important role in helping all children achieve academically.
The WEM Foundation seeks to bring recognition to the often "unsung heroes" who daily meet the challenges of teaching in a variety of settings. The Center for Academic Excellence, in partnership with the service cooperative members of the Minnesota Regional Service Agency (MRSA), administers the award program on behalf of the WEM Foundation.
There are three categories of Educator Awards, with two winners in each category each receiving an unrestricted $10,000 award:
- The Teacher Achievement Awards, recognizing teachers who support, inspire and assist students to achieve despite barriers to learning,
- The Academic Coach of the Year Awards, recognizing coaches of student teams who participate and compete in academic challenges endorsed by Minnesota's Academic League Council, and
- The Ethics in Education Awards, which recognize educators who exemplify ethical behavior for the teaching profession and promote ethical practices and development for their students through classroom or school activities, policies or curriculum.
Students, their parents, and educators are all eligible to submit one or more nominations, and are strongly encouraged to do so at any time. Here's your link to make a nomination right now!
